Il Fu Mattia Pascal

Il fu Mattia Pascal is undoubtedly Pirandello's most famous novel. Published in episodes in the magazine «Nuova Antologia» from 16 April to 16 June 1904, it was then collected in a volume in the autumn of 1904 by the magazine and then reprinted several times, with few variations, first by Treves and then, in 1921 by Bemporad, with the addition of Avvertenza sugli scrupoli della fantasia

In Mattia Pascal, Pirandello demonstrates the full maturity of his semantics and style, as emerges from the philological and lexical analysis of the book, especially when conducted with innovative tools such as digital ones. The story of the man who lived twice naturally attracted the attention of theatre and cinema, giving rise to a series of stagings of Pirandello's text over the book's nearly 120-year history.
