Novelle 2

La rallegrata

This is the third volume Bemporad of Novelle per un anno, published in 1922, the year in which the reorganized collection of short stories was launched, but also a year of international success for the playwright. La rallegrata opens with the eponymous short story, focusing on the themes of death and the end of a civilization, which are central to the entire book.

L'uomo solo

The last of the four volumes of Novelle per un anno was published in 1922 for Bemporad. Two of the nine of his fifteen short stories come from the Treves collection of 1915,  La trappola, a narrative reservoir from which  La rallegrata also takes its inspiration. The iconic title of the volume refers to one of the essential themes of all his writing.
