The volume offers important editorial innovations for both novels included here: the critical edition of L'esclusa, publishing the 1901 and 1927 editions with the apparatus of variants from the intermediate draft, allows us to reconstruct for the first time the evolution of Pirandello's writing; Il turno does not follow the 1932 Mondadori edition, but reproduces the critically established 1902 princeps.
